Description
Complete Assembly Only Not available as modular unit
Utilizing the PolyForce™ Polymer Torsion Core instead of a spring, this belt tensioner is an instant upgrade from the Gates 38667, the most popular belt tensioner on ’08-’17 Freightliners with DD13, DD15 & DD16 engines.
No Springs Attached
Conventional belt tensioners use springs to hold their position and tension. However, springs can only flex so many times before they fail. PolyForceâ„¢ Belt Tensioners replace this spring with a longer lasting, new and unique Polymer Torsion Core. A compressed silicone replaces the spring, thereby eliminating the primary cause of failure.
Improved Bearings
The other common failure point in a belt tensioner is the bearing. The pulley bearing absorbs a huge amount of vibration and can often fail too soon. PolyForceâ„¢ Belt Tensioners have dramatically improved pulley bearings to give them extended life. Our bearing is designed specifically for pulley applications and features:
Savings Long Term
Its innovative design allows part number 638667 to be maintained, rather than replaced. Since it is made up of two individual belt tensioners, you only need to replace individual tensioners instead of the complete assembly, if the need should arise. The individual replacement tensioners are part numbers 638667-1 and 638667-3. The replacement idler pulley part number is TP-010
